This is a free men’s Yoga class at The Yoga Space in Warrington. It is a community-based initiative to support men’s mental well-being. Providing the opportunity for men, whether they practice Yoga or not to learn the foundations of asana (movement), meditation, and pranayama (breathwork). So that they may take away the benefits of these ancient and modern practices and implement them into their daily routines.
For some men, there is still a perceived stigma around Yoga that it is something that only women do, and the idea of stepping into a ‘woman’s space’ such as a Yoga studio is intimidating. Even though it was developed and practiced almost exclusively by men in India for over 5,000 years, up until the early 20th century when it was exported to the West.
Men too, are often reluctant to seek help or support for their mental well-being, which leads to spiraling issues, with the potential for devastating consequences. With this in mind, I have partnered with the Yoga Space to create a men’s Yoga hub to support men’s physical and mental health. There is also a lot of value in connection and community, men coming together showing up for themselves are also supporting each other through the sharing of these practices.
Yoga is for everybody and everybody should be able to experience the benefits that this practice has on our overall physical and mental well-being. During free men’s yoga class, there will be the opportunity to practice and develop the foundational principles of Yoga. To learn how it can support you in better managing stress and anxiety, better sleep, better physical and mental health and cultivating greater vitality and longevity in your life.
